On a conventional project, the architect draws, then hands over to a contractor who priced the drawings without ever discussing them. Every assumption that was obvious to the designer has to be rediscovered on site, usually as a variation, usually at the client’s expense.

We hold both roles. The people who detailed the joinery are the people who build it, so the intent does not get lost in translation. When something has to change on site, the design decision and the build decision are made by the same room, in minutes, not weeks.

It is not the right model for every project. But for a client who wants one number, one programme, and one team to hold accountable, it takes a lot of risk out of a long and expensive process.
